Difficulties faced by Veterans
There are numerous challenges faced by veterans while shifting to civilian life. Every veteran during the transition period goes through specific challenges. Some general challenges are listed below:
Intending to join the workspace: Civilian job for a veteran is quite challenging. A veteran will have to learn a new skill or, even better, get a professional certification to stand out from the crowd and utilize military skills in civilian terms—generally, a veteran with professional accreditation. So, the outline with a professional certification can grab many eyeballs from many organizations.
Joining the previous job: Resuming the career after deploying as a military service member can be difficult, which may include learning a new skill, adjusting to professional changes, adjusting to the new position.
Adjusting to ambiguity: The habit of living in the military includes a transparent chain of commands. In civilian life, a veteran has to set his life structure and adjust to the environment with more ambiguity.
Adjusting to civil life and work: The civilian life and work environment differs from the military environment. The commanding nature of a veteran might not work well in the civilian workplace. The softness in the behavior becomes essential in the civilian workspace. The workplace lingo might be quite challenging to adjust.
Creating social community: The social community outside the military campus is quite different and becomes challenging for veterans and their families. Like-minded families, the discipline and unity among people from other parts of the country will be quite different outside the military campus.
